Kano Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Musa Magaji Majia, said the suspect was arrested by policeman on traffic duty on Ibrahim Taiwo Road in the metropolis as he was herding the large flock animals.
He said the officer’s attention was drawn to the man as livestock were not commonly seen loitering around the area. ASP Majia said the suspect was asked to go with the policeman and the sheep to Nasarawa Police Station following his inability to give satisfactory explanation about the animals.
Ammani, was accompanied by a policeman on the instruction of the Nasarawa Divisional Police Officer, SP Shu’aibu Bello, to invite a supposed owner of the sheep in Fagge quarters.
However, after hours of endless search for the owner, Ammani confessed to the policeman that the animals were actually stolen and pleaded with the officer to accept N20,000 on agreement that the DPO would be informed that the owner of the animal truly existed, said the PPRO.
“He made an advance of N10, 000, with a promise to pay the balance immediately the livestock were released. But on arriving back at the station, the policeman tendered the money as exhibit,” according to Majia.
