Those who turned out at the endorsement meeting for the merger were party leaders from the state’s 17 local government areas and 178 wards.
Yobe State Governor Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam who was represented by Deputy Governor Engineer Abubakar Aliyu at the stakeholders consultative meeting held in Damaturu said the purpose of the meeting was to reaffirm their support for the initiative in respect to the party’s position and map out strategies to galvanize support from the grassroots and analyze the problems of the body polity.
“It is also a forum for us to listen to the views of each other on the issues at stake and chart a way forward that will ensure the successful and effective take off of the new political party which members of the merger committee resolved to name All Progressive Congress (APC),” he said.
He said the initiative will surely bring to end the PDP monopoly of power which lasted for 13 years without tangible results, threatening the total collapse of the Nigerian nation.
He assured people that with the confidence reposed on Gaidam’s administration, they will continue to meet their yearnings and aspirations as exemplified by numerous transformational projects that are clear for all to see as well as the poverty alleviation measures already put in place.
